Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Parmesan meal-planning app ("Parmesan," "we," "us"). By downloading or using Parmesan, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Parmesan. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. The service

Parmesan helps you plan meals and manage recipes, grocery lists, and pantry items. Content you create is stored on your device and synced through your own Apple iCloud account. Some features (such as Apple Reminders sync, importing recipes from websites, and launching a Shortcut for an in-store code) are optional and depend on services provided by Apple or other third parties.

3. Access and invitations

Parmesan is currently offered on an invite-only basis. To use it, you request access with an email address, which we may approve or decline. We may grant, limit, suspend, or revoke access at our discretion, and we do not guarantee that the app or any feature will be available at all times or continue to be offered.

4. Your content

You keep all rights to the recipes, plans, lists, and other content you create in Parmesan. That content is stored in your own iCloud account; we do not host it, access it, or claim any ownership of it. You are responsible for your content and for maintaining your own backups. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for any loss of or inability to access your content, including issues arising from iCloud sync or Apple's services.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

use Parmesan for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
attempt to bypass, probe, or interfere with the access system or with other users' data;
disrupt, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our servers or services;
reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits.

6. Third-party services and content

Parmesan works alongside third-party services — including Apple iCloud and Reminders, the Shortcuts app, and recipe websites you choose to import from. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for them. Recipe content you import from a website belongs to its original source; you are responsible for how you use such content and for respecting the rights of others.

7. Health and dietary disclaimer

Recipes, ingredient lists, nutritional information, and meal plans in Parmesan are provided for general informational and organizational purposes only. They are not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Always verify ingredients and allergens yourself, and consult a qualified professional for any health, allergy, or dietary needs. You are solely responsible for what you choose to cook and eat.

8. Intellectual property

The Parmesan app, its name, logo, and design are owned by us and protected by applicable laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app for your own personal, non-commercial meal planning. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Parmesan is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any data will be preserved.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) Parmesan. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Parmesan at any time, with or without notice, including if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.

12. Changes to the service and these Terms

We may modify or discontinue the app, or update these Terms, from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Parmesan after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state or jurisdiction in which the operator of Parmesan is based, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located there, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
